Prior to the start of the construction process, we had extremely high expectations for both the home we eventually would move into, and the level of service we would receive from Bryan and his team. My Husband and I built our home with Strait Gate Homes 2 years ago. I had some trepidation about starting another custom built home as I had my last home built in 1983. It was not a good experience for many reasons, including a 20% cost overrun.
In starting this home building project we interviewed three builders that were recommended to us. They each bid on our home plans and came back with pricing, starting dates, etc. We thought they were quite high but again we were building our “Dream Home” and the thought was “you get what you pay for”.
During this consultation and reflection time we kept seeing these beautiful and nicely appointed homes under construction with a builders sign out front. We decided to call and we set up an appointment to see and talk to Bryan. Yes, it was a Strait Gate sign and as they say the rest is history.
Bryan came in well under the other bids, which on average were 50,000 higher than his. (What was I thinking) The experience was not stressful at all. He set us up with a kitchen and bathroom consultant, a flooring consultant, and a lighting consultant and we could not be more pleased with their efforts and of course the final result.
I would be remiss if I did not mention the amazing amount of work his crew did to get us in the home a full two and a half weeks before the scheduled finish as we had to vacate the home we sold. We had a family dog, Molly, who was sick and in the twilight of her life (she died two months after the move) and four cats that would be a challenge to find temporary housing for. Bryan assured us that he would do what he could to meet our deadline - and he did.
Right from the start we formed a great relationship with Bryan. He totally understood what we wanted for our “Dream Home” and gave it to us perfectly and on a budget. We put our trust in his hands and he never disappointed us. It is a beautiful home that we are very proud of. Bryan and his whole team were great to work with and we recommend them highly.

My husband and I met Bryan Price more than five years before we built a house together. We were wanting a change, but were nervous about the process of building. Bryan met with us patiently, explaining the process, and when we decided to purchase an existing house rather than build, he fully supported our decision. We contracted with him to do some work on our purchased house, and he completed the job before the deadline and for our agreed amount.
Years later, we had the opportunity to buy a lot and build the house we always wanted. In our minds, Bryan was the only builder for us. He walked us through all the decisions we had to make, and the process became much more fun than the work we had expected before. The contractors Bryan uses are knowledgeable as well as personable, and each worked to ensure we had the finished product we wanted within our budget.
Our house was completed on time and, to the penny, the price we had agreed upon months earlier. Bryan was courteous to our neighbors during the construction process and was always available to answer our questions. He and his contractors are gracious, honest, and friendly. Looking back, the only regret we have is that we waited in the first place!

Bill and I started designing our new home with an architect. By the summer, we were ready to find a contractor. We met with many different contractors and did not feel comfortable with them building our dream home. At this point, we contacted a contractor who had previously built homes for our family who introduced us to Bryan Price, Strait Gate Homes.

When I set out to buy a new home, it was with great trepidation. Knowing very little about home construction, I worried about every aspect of choosing the right house. My burden lightened considerably when I found first a caring realtor and then an honest contractor. When I hired a home inspector, he assured me that the house was extremely well built (better than most, he concluded). Even with that information, though, it was a leap of faith for me to buy this at this time, but I felt that I could trust you and that that would make a difference. It has.
You have always been readily available to answer my questions and to attend to any problems--which are few and minor. I appreciate your caring attitude and your friendship, and I love my new home.

Dear Bryan,
It is so hard to write what is in my heart. I have thought so much about what I want to say to you that I hope I can convey to you how I feel about what you have done for our family. When Jim died we did too. We had lost our lives with him and we so feared the future. Our home has always been so important to all of us because it represented safety and comfort and we no longer had that. We knew we had to leave but we feared where we would have to go. To make days go faster I would drive around Oxford and dream. There was something about Autumn Drive that kept pulling me back there and then I saw your lot. My dreams began and they were just dreams. It was something I could think about when I tried to sleep at night. It gave me a sense of hope and courage. One gloomy Friday I walked the lot and I felt Jim’s gentle touch on my shoulder and I felt the peace that was there. There were times that I let those dreams die because I just thought it would never happen and I would never be able to create for my family that place of safety and comfort again.
Then I met you and you gave me hope - something I had lost along the way. You always went out of your way to help me through the process of the house. I felt that there were times that you wanted me to have the house as much as I wanted it. With each step that we took on the house I felt more hope and strength. I began to imagine my family tucked into that little corner of Autumn Drive and we would be safe and maybe someday happy. With each step of the house building as you let me choose what I thought would make this our home and I began to feel again the sense of accomplishment, pride and self-worth. As you waited for the decision on the house I am sure you passed over other offers. I knew that if the house did sell I would be hurt but I knew I had found whom I wanted to build my house. Not only because you build wonderful homes but also because you are so kind, trustworthy and understanding, a person who cares about others.
The first night when Betsy and I were in the house and I was able to settle in a little and turn on the fireplace I felt a sense of peace settle around us. As the days passed and I could make the house our home I knew that this giant step that I had taken was the right one. As the weeks have gone by we have made it a home for the family. At Christmas as I looked around the table I thought this is the beginning of the new set of memories for not only girls and myself but for the family and friends that loved Jim and us.
Throughout this tragedy there are certain people who have pulled me out of the darkness and hopelessness that I have felt. These are the people who did not ask or expect anything from me but to try to live. I hope you know you are one of those people. Where words have failed me in this letter, all I can say is thank you.
